Columbia Basin College (CBC) is seeking nominations for their 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award seeks to recognize a student, faculty or staff member, or community member who strongly believes in equality and social justice; and whose contributions to society reflect the spirit, philosophy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The award will be presented during CBC’s annual Martin Luther King Bell-Ringing Ceremony on Monday, January 17, 2022. CBC offered a remote ceremony in 2021; the College will announce whether an in-person celebration will be possible for 2022 by early January.
“The Spirit Award is a great way for CBC to acknowledge the work that individuals in our campus and local community continue to do that reflect Dr. Martin Luther King’s leadership qualities and vision for an inclusive and just society,” says Bennie Moses, CBC’s newly-hired Dean for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. “I look forward to this event as a reminder of the continued work we all can do to advance equity and inclusion on our campus and community to further his vision of restorative justice & healing, community belonging and equity for all.”
Those interested in submitting a nomination can send a letter detailing the contributions of the nominee by email to CBC’s Dean for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Bennie Moses (she/her/hers) at bmosesFREECOLUMBIA_BASIN or by mail to Bennie Moses, 2600 N. 20th Ave., MS-1, Pasco, WA, 99301.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Sunday, December 12, 2021.
