The Pasco City Council is seeking registered voters in City Council District 2 to apply for the vacancy on Council after the announced resignation of Councilmember Ruben Alvarado.
The City Council intends to fill the vacancy by appointment of a resident (and registered voter) of Council District 2 as soon as practical, but no later than January. The current term of the District 2 seat expires on December 31, 2023. Thus, the Council’s appointment will serve pending the 2023 election cycle.
Any adult resident and registered voter of District 2 (see map here) may seek appointment by filing a completed application at the City Manager’s office or online here by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, for consideration of the City Council.
Following the application deadline, the City Council will determine the date, time, and the number of applicants for an interview; those selected for an interview will be notified of the interview arrangements. Interviews will be conducted during a regular or special meeting of the City Council and open to the public and media. Please note that any information contained in applications or supporting documents for Council appointment will be considered public information and subject to release to anyone, including the media and members of the public.
If you have any questions about this process or the role and responsibilities of Councilmembers, please get in touch with the City Manager’s office at (509) 545-3485.
